Universal Network 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (Electronics)
This is the first serious upgrade to my HT. It replaces an old JVC
XV-N312 (DVD only).
Setup was a snap as well as the supplied firmware upgrade. Just follow the instructions.
This is the first time I used HDMI.
DVD's - the up-scaling of heavily compressed DVD's to 1080 by the OPPO-93 is without artifacts: no pixilation, no quantization effects (no gradiant halos). All this time I thought my old JVC was acting normally, even with uncompressed DVD's there would be gradiant artifacts.
Netflix - I tried Netflix streaming: Obviously these movies are heavily compressed due to internet bandwidth limitations, and the overall quality is not as good as a DVD, but again, the OPPO-93 did an amazing job of processing the video data to the extent that the video was enjoyable to view.
BluRay - Even though I have never viewed BluRay before, I must say the experience was amazing. I can't wait to try a 3D BluRay, but this will have to wait until I get a 3D display.
There is a lot in the instruction manual to digest. Many options / capabilities. Do yourself a favor and read through it a few times before you actually sit down and setup the OPPO-93.
